“Choose the right courses and the right qualifications for you”
The next options booklet will be published in February 2009
Current course information relates to 2008-09
Students are asked to make a selection from approximately 30 courses leading to qualification at GCSE or BTEC Level 2. Each course is placed in 1 of 5 families to encourage students to choose a broad curriculum. Each course is assigned a colour depending on the typical style of delivery in lessons. Some subjects are offered as part of the Reflex Programme, a collaboration with Redbridge College.
Advice for students is provided through an Options Evening and they are supported at all times by Form Tutors and the Head of Year. All students finalise their choices on this website.
At this stage, it's more important to think about what subjects you like and dislike rather than what career you want to follow in the future. Most teachers will advise you to keep your options open. Remember to talk to your family and your teachers before making your final decision. Over the next two years, half your timetable will have been determined by your choices.
To keep life interesting, many students will choose their subjects from a wide range of subject families; however this may not be the best option for you so, if you want to make a more specialised choice, don't be afraid to ask for special permission. Remember, it is vital you choose two sensible and realistic reserve options. At this stage we can't guarantee you will get all your main choices.
