If you have problems opening the Year 9 Options Booklet above, please right-click the link and choose Save Target As.
Students are given advice through an extended Options Assembly when the options booklet is distributed. This is then followed by a special assembly, options evening and a parent-tutor options interview.
Students follow one of four pathways: Pathway 1 requires the student to select five single GCSE subjects; Pathway 2 allows a student to select 3 GCSE subjects in combination with a double-award subject; Pathway 3 requires the student to choose 1 Diploma and a single GCSE and Pathway 4 student chooses V.I.P. and a total of 4 GCSEs.
The school recommends taking at least one language, a humanities subject and at most one technology subject.
Whatever pathway you choose, you will also take English, Maths, 21 Century Science and Core PE. You need to think carefully about the kind of things you want to do in the future – it is unlikely that you know exactly what career you want to follow. However, when you make your choices, you must make sure that you do not close any options that you may want to follow later. If you don’t know what you want to do in the future, it is important that you study a range of different subjects.
