“Choose the right courses and the right qualifications for you”
Current information relates to 2010/2011.
All students must study English Language and Literature, Mathematics, Science, a modern foreign language (from French and either German or Italian). All students must continue with core Physical Education and core Religious Studies (both subjects are also available as GCSE options). Sixteen periods of the school week are divided between four option choices one of which must be a modern foreign language.
Most GCSE courses can be continued to A-Level but three courses cannot: Child Development, Graphic Products and Food Technology. Therefore, to maintain Post-16 flexibility, students may only choose one of these subjects in the four option choices.
Students and parents are invited to attend the Year 9 Parents' Evening in February which offers the opportunity for parents to discuss their child's potential for GCSE studies with subject teachers.
Maintaining a balance of subjects is very important at this stage and will give you the maximum flexibility when you make choices about Advanced Level courses later on.
